Northern Isles

This page covers the islands which lie to the North of Scotland's North Coast

Orkneys

These islands lie only a short distance off the east part of Scotland's far north coast. Fishing on the Orkneys is limited to trout and sea fishing, as there are no rivers on any of the islands, only small burns. There are therefore no opportunities to fish for salmon, although there are some limited opportunities for saltwater fishing for Sea trout.

Please see our sea section for details of sea fishing boats operating out of Stromness and Kirkwall. We hope to add details of Orkney's trout fishing to our trout section before too long.

Shetlands

These islands are much further away from Scotland's mainland being about 200 miles north of Aberdeen. Like the Orkneys, there are no rivers on any of the islands, only small burns. There are therefore no opportunities to fish for salmon or sea trout.

The islands however have some very useful trout and sea fishing and we hope to cover these in our trout and sea sections in the future.
