Scotland can offer some of the finest sea angling in the world, ranging from off-shore and inshore boat fishing, to rocks, beach, estuary, and pier angling. Sea angling in Scotland is free, with no permits or licence required to fish around our wonderful coastline.

The Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers (SFSA) is the internationally recognised governing body for fishing in Scotland. There are many Individual members in the federation, and also an extensive list of affiliated angling clubs.

With so many places to go and so many species to target we recommend that you consider the following information to help you choose your location.

Local knowledge

Anglers looking to maximise their chances of catching that big fish or 'bagging up' with lots of fish, will want to know how their chosen venue is currently fishing.

There are scores of sea angling clubs located throughout Scotland, with many of their members regularly fishing their 'club matches' they soon build up a comprehensive knowledge of where and when to fish.

Why not contact the local club for information on what's hot and what's not; this will help put you on the right mark.

With many launch sites available around the country why not bring your own boat, most slips can be used for a minimum fee, with many of them free to use. Various baits can be collected in certain areas including worms, crabs, and shellfish.

There are many tackle shops where you will find helpful advice on tackle and baits required for your chosen venue. They will also be able to assist with contact details for local clubs and charter boats available in the area.
