Last week

(Last updated: Tuesday 8th August)

The river has been hard work for the early summer, with water levels on the low side. Spring came and went but there was sadly nothing to report.

Trout anglers have been out and enjoyed some success, but these catches have not been easy.
The salmon until late have been have not really made and appearance, which is strange after last years good runs of fish in May.

The better lifts in water have just started to take effect on the river and salmon are now being seen and for some anglers they are catching and loosing an odd fish.

Fishing pressure until now have been very very light, but i would expect this to pick up as we have cooler and wetter conditions.

Swinton and Abbey beat will suit current conditions and Bolton likes the water a little higher.

Border esk,

The river has had some good sport after lifts and dual method angling does well.

July proved the best month for seatrout in recent years, the salmon will start appearing shortly and this little river can provide you with some excellent sport on lightweight tackle.

Brian Towers 07850 727132 and Philip Ellis 07930 073921will be taking bookings now until the end of the season so get in touch as we are now into prime time
